CAFE VISIT: BANGKOK, THAILAND

Late last year, I promised myself to never drink instant coffee again. Although I haven't done any research as to the bad effects of instant coffee, I just realized coffee should be something that I shouldn't take for granted. My love for great coffee actually started during a visit to Sweden, where they take coffee seriously. There, my former manager told me stories of how she made coffee during her university years in London.

I'm not much of a tourist and I don't take much time going to tourist spots. So whenever I travel, I always end up looking for coffee shops to lounge in and pass time.

In Bangkok en route to Dubai, before going to Suvarnabhumi Airport, I took time to visit Alto Coffee Roasters in Suan Plern Market at Rama Road 4. Alto Coffee Roasters is a cafe that sells specialty coffee beans, wholesale coffee beans, home brewing equipment and hold barista classes. It was founded in 2010 with the focus on roasting premium grade local and specialty grade imported coffees, also offering customers the world of artisan coffees through their variety of bean selections, handcrafted by their baristas in their cafes.

I was immediately drawn to its interiors, like any other cafe in Bangkok. I'm no interior designer and I know no shit about things like that, so to put into simpler terms I found the cafe beautiful. Sure, there were these cliche quotes on the walls, but it wasn't anything that I put focus on, instead it was the flatlay-ed wall decoration of coffee essentials that grabbed my attention. Other things too, like tubes containing different kinds of ground coffee and the tools they are using and selling, made the cafe more endearing to fellow coffee lovers.

Anyway, so I ordered cold brew, asked for extra milk and some sugar syrup. It wasn't that exceptional but it was okay. Nevertheless, if asked about coming back, I would in a heartbeat.
